Tamil Nadu: In the Junior Hockey World Cup being held in Tamil Nadu, the Indian team had suffered a 5-1 defeat against Germany in the semi-final match. However, Team India still had a chance to win the bronze medal. In the bronze medal match played on December 10th, Team India faced Argentina, (Argentina ) and thanks to the outstanding performance of the players, they won the match by a margin of 4-2, securing the bronze medal. At one point in the match, Team India was trailing significantly, but they completely turned the game around in the final moments.
Team India Makes a Strong Comeback in the Last Quarter
In the bronze medal match of the Junior Hockey World Cup 2025 against Argentina, the Indian hockey team appeared to be under considerable pressure for the first three quarters, trailing 2-0. The last quarter was a do-or-die situation for them, and Team India made a spectacular comeback, completely turning the match around in the remaining 15 minutes. Ankit Pal opened the scoring for Team India by converting a penalty corner, and then they immediately received another penalty corner, which Manmeet Singh also converted, bringing the score to 2-2.
Argentina’s Decision to Remove Goalkeeper Proves Costly
After the match was tied at 2-2, the confidence of the Indian players was clearly boosted. Sharda Nand Tiwari then converted the third penalty corner with three minutes remaining, giving the Indian team a 3-2 lead. Argentina then decided to remove their goalkeeper and play with an extra field player, which also benefited Team India, allowing them to score another goal. This made the score 4-2 in favor of the Indian team, securing their bronze medal. This is the first bronze medal in the tournament’s history for Team India, which has previously won the Junior Hockey World Cup title twice.
