India defeated South Africa in the final (India ) 

Mumbai: The final of the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 was played between India     (India )   and South Africa at the DY Patil Stadium. Team India won the match by 52 runs. With this, Team India won the Women’s ODI World Cup title for the first time. In this match, Team India was given the opportunity to bat first and scored 298 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 50 overs. In reply, the African team was all out for 246 runs. Shafali Verma and Deepti Sharma scored half-centuries for India in this match.

Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana gave the Indian team a good start, batting first. They shared a 104-run partnership for the first wicket. Smriti scored 45 runs from 58 balls. Shafali Verma had a chance to score a century in this match but missed it. Shefali scored 87 runs from 78 balls, hitting seven fours and two sixes in her innings. Jemima, who scored a century in the semi-final match, could only manage 24 runs from 37 balls. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur was clean bowled after scoring 20 runs from 29 balls. Amanjot scored 12 runs from 14 balls. Richa Ghosh scored 34 runs. Deepti Sharma was run out on 58. Aibonga Khaka took three wickets for South Africa.

South Africa, chasing the target, also got off to a good start. Tazmin Brits and Laura Wolvaardt shared a 51-run partnership for the first wicket. Brits was dismissed for 23 runs from 35 balls. Anneke Bosch, who came to bat at number 3, could not even open her account in this match. After this, Sune Luus scored 35 and Sinalo Jafar scored 16 runs. While the other South African batsmen could not do much in this match, captain Laura Wolvaardt scored a brilliant century. She was out after scoring 101 runs in 98 balls with the help of 11 fours and one six. Amanjot Kaur took a brilliant catch of her. Talking about bowling, Deepti Sharma took the maximum 5 wickets for India.
