Chandigarh: After the defeat of Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi assembly elections, now opposition leaders in Punjab have targeted Mann government. Opposition leaders claimed on Saturday that the defeat of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi assembly elections has paved the way for its downfall here as well. BJP ( BJP) P wiped out AAP in Delhi and it has returned to power there after more than 26 years.
AAP gets double blow
BJP has given a severe blow to the Arvind Kejriwal-led party, due to which the top leadership of AAP has disintegrated. This is the second blow for the party after last year’s Lok Sabha elections. Earlier in the Lok Sabha elections, AAP could win only three seats in Punjab which has 13 parliamentary seats. AAP had won power by winning 92 out of a total of 117 assembly seats during the Punjab Assembly elections held in 2022.
Allegation of cheating voters
Ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections, the entire Punjab unit of AAP, including Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, cabinet members, MPs and MLAs, took part in the election campaign in the capital. At the same time, opposition parties in Punjab on Saturday criticized the ruling AAP, saying that the people of Delhi have ‘exposed the lies and deceit’ of the Arvind Kejriwal-led organization. Targeting the Mann government, he accused it of ‘misgovernance’ and ‘cheating voters with false promises’.
Bajwa spoke of internal conflict
Senior Congress leader Pratap Singh Bajwa alleged that ‘now the AAP party in Punjab will ‘break up. There will be an internal power struggle between Bhagwant Mann and Arvind Kejriwal.’ Leader of Opposition in Punjab Assembly Bajwa alleged that Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia and others lost the Delhi Assembly seat due to being immersed in corruption and arrogance. Bajwa said in a post on social media platform ‘X’, “Aam Aadmi Party had to taste a humiliating defeat in Delhi. With this defeat, the rule of deceit, lies and empty promises has come to an end.”
Congress called it the defeat of fake revolutionaries
Meanwhile, Congress MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira said that the defeat of AAP in Delhi is the defeat of ‘fake revolutionaries’, who ‘literally reneged on every promise of VIP culture, Lokpal, Swaraj and ending corruption.’
BJP rejected AAP’s development model
BJP’s Punjab unit general secretary Subhash Sharma said, “This is the defeat of Arvind Kejriwal’s lies, deception and dishonesty. The people of Delhi have shown today that you cannot rule the state for long by making false promises.” BJP’s Punjab unit vice-president and former MLA Arvind Khanna said that the people of Delhi have completely rejected the so-called development model of AAP.
Ravneet Singh Bittu took aim
Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu also said on the social media platform ‘X’, “History has been rewritten in Delhi. After 27 years, people have given a resounding mandate to the BJP, adopting Prime Minister Modi’s vision of a developed India.
