Visakhapatnam: Under the captaincy of Alyssa Healy, the Australian ( Australia’s ) women’s team is having a stellar performance in the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2025. The Kangaroos won the match against the Bangladesh women’s team by 10 wickets in Visakhapatnam, securing their place in the semi-finals. Bowling first, the Australian women’s team restricted Bangladesh to 198 runs in 50 overs, achieving the target without any loss in 24.5 overs.
The road ahead becomes difficult for the Indian team
While the Australian team has secured its place in the semi-finals of the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2025, the road ahead has also become more difficult for Team India. The Indian women’s team currently sits fourth in the points table with four points, having played four matches, winning two and losing two. Consequently, the next three remaining matches in the tournament have become crucial for Team India. They will face England, New Zealand, and Bangladesh. Team India must win all three to secure a comfortable semi-final spot.
England and South Africa in a strong position, with New Zealand also in the race
With Australia’s semi-final berth, the remaining three spots appear to be a strong contender for England, South Africa, and New Zealand, along with India. England currently sits second with seven points, while the South African women’s team sits third with six points. The Kiwi women’s team currently has only three points from four matches, but if they manage to win all three of their remaining matches, they will almost secure a semi-final spot. Apart from this, if we talk about Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Pakistani women’s team in the points table, then all three are almost out of the race to reach the semi-finals.
