35 to 40 people reported drowned in Indrayani river (35 to 40 ) 

Pune: A shocking news has come from Pune district of Maharashtra. Half of the bridge built on Indrayani river has collapsed here. When the bridge collapsed, more than 100 people were present on it. Rescue operation is going on. In this accident, news is coming out that 35 to 40   (35 to 40 )  people have drowned in Indrayani river. The number of deaths in this accident has increased to 4. 38 people have been rescued. The condition of 6 people is critical and they are being treated in ICU.

What is the whole matter?
Many tourists have drowned due to collapse of bridge in Kund Mall in Maval, Pune. It is being told that this incident happened around 3.30 pm. Talegaon Dabhade police of Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate is on the spot. There is a bridge to cross Kundmala, which has collapsed.

As it was Sunday, a large number of tourists were present there. Some people were standing on the bridge. At that time, the bridge collapsed and this accident happened.

How did the accident happen?

According to eyewitnesses, some people had climbed the bridge with two-wheeler bikes. There was a lot of crowd and due to the bikes also coming, the bridge got overloaded and this accident happened. It is being told that this bridge was in a dilapidated condition. 10 to 12 ambulances are present at the spot and NDRF teams are present on the spot.

Statement of CM Fadnavis came out

CM Fadnavis said, ‘Rescue is going on at the accident site. Many people have been injured due to the collapse of the bridge. Rescuing the people who were swept away in the river is our priority.’

Deputy CM Ajit Pawar sought a report from the collector

Deputy CM Ajit Pawar said, ‘I have received information about the incident, NDRF teams and Pune Municipal Corporation teams and others have reached the spot. Prima facie it has been found that it was a rusted iron bridge on which people were crossing the river on bikes. Another bridge was already sanctioned there at a cost of 8 crores. I have spoken to the collector and have sought a detailed report from him.’

Statement of NCP Sharadchandra Pawar leader and MP Supriya Sule came out

Supriya Sule said, ‘The bridge over the Indrayani river collapsed at Kundmala in Maval taluka of Pune district. It is feared that some citizens present on the bridge may have been swept away. This incident is very unfortunate and I pray to God that all these citizens remain safe. I have spoken to the District Collector of Pune about this incident and they are sending all the necessary assistance. My humble request to the citizens is that please take necessary precautions while going for monsoon tourism. Follow the safety rules strictly.’

Compensation announced
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has announced that the state government will provide financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh to the families of those killed in the bridge collapse incident on the Indrayani river near Talegaon in Pune district. Apart from this, the state government will also bear the cost of treatment of the injured.
